Questions & Answers First Six Months Return

What is the first 6 months return?

The first 6 months return is the Annual Return that is due six months after the date of incorporation of a new company in Ireland. It provides information about the company's directors, shareholders, and registered office.

Do I need to file financial information with the return?

No. The first 6 months return only provides information such as the company's directors, shareholders, their addresses and the company registered office.

What happens if I don't file the first 6 months return on time?

If you fail to file your first 6 months return within 56 days from the six months of incorporation, you may be charged a late filing fee by the Companies Registration Office (CRO). The fee starts at €100 and increases by €3 per day for every day that the return is late, up to a maximum of €1,200. This is in addition to the standard filing fee of €20 per return. Late filing fees cannot be claimed as a tax deduction.

Can I get an extension to file my first 6 months return?

No, an extension cannot be filed with the company’s first annual return after incorporation (the six-month return) as this would only shorten the time available to file the first full annual return with Financial Statements.

How do I file my Annual Return?

You can file your Annual Return online through the CRO website or by using third-party software. Alternatively, you can contact us to file it for you.

What information is required to file the Return?

You will need to provide information about the company's directors, shareholders, registered office, and any changes that may have occurred since incorporation.

Can I get help with filing the return and how much do you charge?

Yes, you can get help from an accountant or other professional to ensure that your Annual Return is filed accurately and on time. Contact us to file the return on time. At Taxcom accounting, we are pleased to offer a competitive price of just €50 for submitting your company's first 6 months return.

Do I need to send the original signature pages?

It is possible to send a scanned copy of the signature page. Your accountant should be able to upload the scanned copy to the Companies Registration Office (CRO) as part of your company's annual return.

It is important to ensure that the scanned copy is clear and legible and that all necessary signatures are present. In addition, you should confirm with your accountant that they are able to accept scanned copies of the signature pages before sending them. We Taxcom Accounting accept scanned signature pages.
